The availability of student financial assistance is critical for many Ontarians who pursue college or university. Students believe that investments in the future of this province should be protected, and that the hundreds of thousands of families accessing OSAP in each corner of this province should continue to reap the benefits of education.

The paper was written, approved, and published by students with the purpose of providing recommendations for renewing Ontario’s tuition framework, reducing tuition costs, and restoring public funding to Ontario’s universities.
OUSA releases stance on Freedom of Speech and Expression

TORONTO, ON - Today, the Ontario Undergraduate Student Alliance (OUSA) released its stance on Freedom of Speech and Expression that was written by student delegates and passed at the General Assembly on November 4th. Students believe that free speech is already protected by Canadian law on their campuses, and that they are able to engage in fruitful discussions and debate. However, students are concerned about the provincial government’s directive on free speech and OUSA asks that the provincial government rescind the directive.

Students re-launch #TextbookBroke campaign across Ontario

TORONTO, ON - Starting today, the Ontario Undergraduate Student Alliance (OUSA) re-launches the #TextbookBroke campaign. The campaign highlights the high cost of textbooks students are forced to pay in addition to paying for their tuition and other fees. In January, students shared their stories about the detrimental costs of textbooks on their wallets and mental health. Factors such as the cost and lack of flexibility of traditional learning materials, including textbooks, create different financial and learning barriers that can limit the courses some students can afford to take. An affordable post-secondary education is essential for students to succeed in all aspects of their undergraduate career.
