If you’re a student at one of our member schools, you will have already heard from us in November since we launched the Ontario Post-Secondary Student Survey. If you haven’t filled it out already, please do! The data we collect helps us write better recommendations for government (and there’s a chance for you to win a prize!). You can find your university’s unique survey link here.
We also spent the last week of November in Toronto for our annual Student Advocacy Conference. We met with MPPs, policymakers and other stakeholders in the PSE sector to explain students’ priorities to them. We asked for investment in open educational resources, for increased base funding to universities and that government implement the recommendations found in our recent collaborative report, In It Together: Taking Action on Student Mental Health. Thank you to all the partners who met with us, and to all the alumni who joined us for our annual holiday party. (If you are an OUSA alumnus and didn’t receive an invite, sign up for our alumni mailing list here).
We also published the three papers and one policy statement that students approved at the October General Assembly. You can find the full text of these documents on our website in our policy library. A big thanks goes out to our student authors and researchers for their hard work on these publications. An especially big thanks goes to Marc Gurrisi, one of our Research and Policy Analysts, who will be leaving OUSA next week. Marc has been a big part of our Home Office team. We will miss him, but wish him all the best in his next adventure.
With Marc leaving, that means we are hiring! Check out the job posting here. The deadline is today at 5pm!
Have a happy, healthy, restful holiday season. See you in 2018!
