Sayak's Last Presidential Update
May 13, 2026
Hello everyone, and happy May!
Today is my last day as OUSA President, and I'd be lying if I said it didn't come with a lot of bittersweet emotions. Getting further involved with OUSA was one of the many reasons I sought the VP: Government & Stakeholder Relations role with the Wilfrid Laurier University Students' Union — and having the honour to serve as President has been a tremendous joy and privilege.
Welcome Conference 2026 Recap
Last week, OUSA wrapped our annual Welcome Conference (WelCon)! Each year, WelCon allows Steering Committee (SC) to spend a week with Home Office, get more familiar with OUSA, begin planning for the year ahead, and elect the Executives! This year, WelCon was hosted in Keene, where we were lucky enough to take in the scenery at Rice Lake in between the many meetings and training sessions.

Presidential Update: April 2026
Hello everyone!
April is always a bittersweet time of year — campus events wind down; students hand in their last assignment of the semester at 11:59pm, praying their internet won’t crash and make it late; governments pass critical pieces of legislation … and amidst all the chaos, OUSA takes a moment to pause, reflect, and celebrate. This month was full of meaningful conversations with key decision-makers, staff and intern hiring, and of course, our beloved annual Partners in Higher Education Dinner (PiHED).
OUSA’s 19th Partners in Higher Education Dinner
Over the past couple of decades, April has marked both the end of the school year and OUSA’s Partners in Higher Education Dinner (PiHED). This annual event is our way of commemorating the hard work and dedication of students, educators, sector partners, and elected officials in higher education. We were delighted to host many guests for a lovely evening filled with laughter, food, and celebration of the folks working to improve students’ post-secondary experience.
