Tuition, Ancillary, & Incidental Fees

The Tuition, Ancillary & Incidental Fees policy paper focuses on the costs, regulations, and institutional practices that shape students’ ability to access, afford, complete, and fully experience post-secondary education in Ontario. It examines concerns around tuition affordability, financial aid, and payment processes, as well as transparency in student fees and institutional spending. The paper also explores student involvement in decisions about ancillary fee-funded services, provincial funding and cost-sharing, and the affordability of university housing, meal plans, learning materials, and work-integrated learning opportunities.

This policy paper was written, approved, and published by undergraduate student authors. The principles, recommendations, and concerns within were voted on and ratified by student representatives from OUSA’s member schools in March 2026 during Spring General Assembly.
