Introducing Sahiba Gulati, VP Commissioner of External Affairs at Queen's University

Hi Everyone!

My name is Sahiba Gulati, and I am the Commissioner of External Affairs at the Alma Mater Society (AMS) at Queen’s University. I am currently in my 4th year of completing a degree in Biotechnology as well as a Certificate in Law. This is my first time being on OUSA, and I am incredibly excited to be a member of the 2022-23 Steering Committee.

A little bit about me is that I am from Vaughan, Ontario where I have lived my whole life. Ever since I was younger, I have been involved in student government and participated in equity projects as it was something that I’ve been passionate about at a young age. These include topics such as mental and physical health accessibility, housing resources, menstrual equality, and transparency of information. I am someone who has loved to be involved as I believe that amplifying voices is incredibly important for change to occur.

Currently, I am an executive on various extracurriculars such as Women’s Health and Advocacy Club, ThornQ for Digital Defenders Against Child Sex Trafficking, HOSA, Global Medical Brigades, and being an elected Senator for the Arts and Science Undergraduate Society at Queen’s. I am incredibly passionate about learning new things through the various positions I have been involved in and would love to continue my advocacy work at OUSA.

In the future, I hope to attend medical school to become a gynaecologist to advocate and de-stigmatize the topic of women’s health. This has been a topic that is very close to my heart as I have first-hand experienced inequities in healthcare that need to be addressed, especially towards students.

Besides advocacy, a few of my interests include videography, dance, acting, hiking, and reading. I am always excited to try new things and am thrilled to be working with such an amazing team this year as a member of OUSA’s Steering Committee!
