Introducing Claudia Idzik, Manager of Operations

Hi everyone! My name is Claudia (she/her/they/them) and I’m joining OUSA as your newest Manager of Operations!

Originally from Winnipeg, I moved to Ontario to attend my Bachelor of Science in Psychology: Brain & Cognition at the University of Guelph. As a first-generation student, I made it my mission to become deeply involved in student leadership and politics throughout my undergraduate career. I joined our Biological Science Student Council as a first-year student and was subsequently elected the Vice President of Events for the following three years. Concurrently, I also served on Guelph’s Student Union for four years, during which I dove deeper into student politics. Once graduated, I was elected the Vice President of Student Experience for Guelph’s student union. My portfolio focused on events, mental health, sexual violence, and accessibility. Event planning has been the root of my undergraduate experience, from conferences, galas, and socials, and culminated in bringing Bill Nye to campus. Beyond events, I became involved in other aspects of campus life, including Senate, student journalism, program curricula, and Orientation Week.

After my stint as an executive on Guelph’s student union, I started my Master of Arts in Psychology with a focus on the psychology and neuroscience of music. There, I continued my involvement in student politics and governance. My experience and passions throughout my academic career converge around student experience, events, accessibility, and academics. I’m excited to jump back into student life and bring this experience to OUSA during my tenure!

Outside of events and student life, I have a deep passion for music. My Master’s thesis focused on anxiety and music, and I love going to concerts. In my peak, I went to 103 concerts in one year! I occasionally freelance for media outlets, interviewing artists, and photographing festivals. Beyond music, I love food, discovering new neighbourhoods with long walks, and road trips. Do not hesitate to contact me at [email protected] for anything related to events, operations, accessibility, or with any concerns you may have.
