Introducing Stephen DeCordova, VP Education at McMaster University

Hello! My name is Stephen DeCordova (he/him) and I am the Vice-President (Education) for the McMaster Students Union (MSU) and the Vice-President Administration and Human Resources for OUSA.

I recently graduated from McMaster University and majored in Political Science with a Specialization in Public Law and Judicial Studies. My academic journey highlights my passion for politics, law, and most importantly, activism. In my goal to one day be a lawyer, it is my hope that I will one day be able to combine my interest to continue advocating for others in a different venue.

Throughout my time at McMaster, I have been very involved in the student community. I served as Co-President and Co-Founder of BlackPrint, a MSU ratified club that aims to provide Black men at McMaster University with communal and professional support. As an Outreach and Transition Program Support Assistant for the McMaster Black Student Success Centre, I helped create and conduct outreach initiatives to high school students ensuring accessibility to post-secondary for Black-identifying youth. In addition, as a Welcome Week Rep for the Black Student Success Centre, I provided support and guidance to students as they transitioned into university life. My experiences at McMaster have strengthened my belief in the power of community and drive for student advocacy.

My first exposure to OUSA was as a delegate at the Spring 2025 General Assembly that was held at the University of Waterloo. I've been inspired by OUSA's work ever since, and I'm honored to be a part of it. Amplifying student voices is at the core of our duties as leaders in student government and through my roles within OUSA and the MSU, I have been placed in the best position to amplify the student voice through advocacy and research-backed policy, giving back to the student community.

I am truly grateful for this opportunity to further OUSA’s mission statement and embrace the values we bring throughout our work – advocating for an equitable, accessible, affordable, accountable, and high-quality post-secondary education.

Outside of the office and school, I love sports, anime, and reading, and I am always looking for new suggestions of books to read or anime to watch!
