Steering Committee Introductions: Erin Quinn

Hey Folks!

My name is Erin Quinn, I use she and her pronouns, and I am currently serving as the Vice President of University Affairs for the Wilfrid Laurier University Students’ Union. I am extremely excited for the opportunity to represent my peers at Laurier as a member of this year’s OUSA Steering Committee.

To give you some background on me, I am originally from Downtown Toronto and moved to Waterloo to attend Laurier, where I just graduated with an Honours Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Global Studies and minoring in Religion and Culture. My time at Laurier provided me with so many opportunities to get involved in extracurricular activities around campus and in my community. My passion for advocacy came when I was able to interact with students and other community members and saw that there was a need for ways of elevating student voices that had gone unheard.

Here in my role, it is my job not only to advocate for students, but to listen to them. It is my job to provide safe and accountable spaces for all students to raise their concerns and to provide attainable solutions that can lead to tangible change. I am excited to have been given this platform and I am hopeful that during my term I can continue to work collaboratively with students and peers to make positive impacts on our campuses and communities.

Within OUSA I am looking forward to collaborating with all SC members and provincial stakeholders to address student concerns. In the last year we have seen students and community members raising their voice to speak out against injustice more than ever before and I look forward to continuing this momentum of social change and advocacy throughout my term.

Best regards,

Erin Quinn (she/her/hers)
