Introducing Britney De Costa, OUSA's New Research & Policy Analyst

Hi! My name's Britney De Costa and I am very excited to be joining the OUSA team at the home office as a Research & Policy Analyst.

I completed a joint Master of Social Work and law degree at the University of Windsor where I was lucky to meet a group of community advocates, critical scholars, and passionate students who taught me about how to approach advocacy by putting people first and supporting leaders with lived experience. Working on issues like sexual violence on campus and in the community, as well as poverty elimination and creating more accessible spaces helped my understanding of some of the different barriers to education that many students face.

This led me to pursue my Master of Laws where I explored the role that lawyers might play in systemic, community-led advocacy. This only reinforced my belief in the importance of advocacy that is led by and elevates the voices of those most impacted by the issues being addressed, which is why I'm so excited to be joining OUSA in a role that supports students as leaders and advocates.

I could not be more thrilled to be joining and learning from each of you. I'm looking forward to meeting and getting to know you all over the coming months! Feel free to drop me a line at [email protected] if you want to chat anytime.
