Presidential Update - July 2017

Last week, we released a joint publication called Shared Perspectives with our friends at the New Brunswick Student Alliance, Students Nova Scotia, Council of Alberta University Students, and Canadian Alliance of Student Associations.

Shared Perspectives is a collection of articles that highlights the current state of student mental health in four provinces. While our contexts are different, the challenges we face are largely the same. Mental wellness is increasingly becoming a concern across the country, and we hope that this publication will help bring a student perspective to the national conversation.

This week, we are holding “think-tanks” for our Fall policy papers. Student authors from each of our member schools are getting together with our Home Office researchers to map out the policy recommendations that students will vet at our General Assembly at Wilfrid Laurier University in October. The four topics that we are covering this Fall are: Indigenous Students, System Vision, University Accountability, and Open Educational Resources. If you’re interested in providing feedback on any of these topics, or if you’d like to attend our General Assembly, contact your student association!

Enjoy your last few weeks of summer. See you on campus in the Fall!
