Introducing Shemar Hackett, OUSA's New Research and Policy Analyst

Hello!

My name is Shemar and I’m very excited to be back at OUSA, this time as a Research and Policy Analyst!

I was born in Toronto, but have lived all over the GTA. I attended high-school in Brampton before moving to Hamilton to attend McMaster University. While at McMaster, I slowly started engaging in politics from joining student government committees to volunteering within the local community. After a few years, I ran for Vice-President (Education) for the McMaster Students Union and had the pleasure of working with OUSA for a year as a steering committee member.

Since leaving the world of post-secondary advocacy, I’ve been very fortunate to have the chance to work for IPolitics and Public Affairs Advisors, a national newspaper and a government relations firm based in Ottawa. Both experiences have been rewarding, and I’m happy to be back at OUSA to bring my new found knowledge and skills to help support the experiences of students in Ontario.

I’m looking forward to the years ahead! If you ever want to chat about video games, theatre, politics or anything else, please don’t hesitate to reach out!
