At the height of their social advocacy campaigning, the Ontario Undergraduate Student Alliance (OUSA) hosts their 3rd annual Blue Chair event, which extends across all seven partner schools. Scattered all over campus are 25 blue chairs, each one intended to represent an unfilled seat in the classrooms of McMaster. A reminder of the students that could not access post-secondary education as a result of systemic obstacles, and the loss of potential that the province faces as a result of restricted access to PSE.
All week the OUSA street team will be selling tickets to the Blue Chair Twelve Eighty night on Thursday, for four dollars, which includes both cover and line bypass. Part of the proceeds of these tickets will go towards the Hamilton-Burlington YMCA Career Development Centres, which provides one-on-one career counseling for youth regarding effective post-secondary choices.
OUSA booths in MUSC will also be handing lots of swag, including toothbrushes, buttons and fortune cookies with some interesting higher-education fortunes. There is also a $400 cash prize up for grabs, intended to cover the costs of books for one semester, which students can win by identifying the location of as many of the 25 blue chairs on campus as possible. Tables
Stop by our table in MUSC Monday through Friday between 10am and 2pm for some FREE SWAG, such as fortunate cookies and condoms and INFO about OUSA and the Blue Chair campaign! We will also be selling tickets to our 1280 event (more information below).

Contest
Pay attention on campus and if you spot a Blue Chair with a number on it, take a picture! Bring this picture to the OUSA table Monday-Friday between 10-2 and your name will be entered in a draw. The more pictures you bring the more times your name will be entered. Don’t forget to include the number in the photo!
The prize is…. a gift certificate to TITLES to help you pay for textbook costs. How much is this you ask? $400. Yeah, pictures of Blue Chairs pay!

Look out for our OUSA Street Team Members at events such as Acoustic Night on Tuesday and Comedy Night on Friday!

Next Thursday, January 14th, OUSA will be at 1280’s Club Night! Stop by our tables and purchase a ticket for $4, which acts as your COVER AND LINE BYPASS (Before 11pm. Tickets are subject to capacity).
We will be handing out MORE FREE SWAG at 1280 such as the much anticipated OUSA Shot Glass Beads!
Still not convinced? Well, proceeds from this night will be going towards the YMCA Hamilton/Burlington Career Development
Centre, which offers early outreach initiatives. Some come out, have a dance party, get some free swag AND help out a good cause!
