In today’s Globe & Mail, it was reported that the federal government’s Young Canada Works program may have funded student summer jobs in the adult film industry. To read the article, click the link HERE.

Interestingly, OUSA applied for the same Human Resources and Skills Development Canada (HRSDC) grant at the beginning of this summer for its two summer research intern positions. OUSA was denied on the grounds that the OUSA internship was not targeted enough to HRSDC’s selection criteria.

The job posted in the adult industry is for a “Final Cut Video Editor,” which apparently sounds much better than “Summer Research Intern.” Just for the record, Morgan and Chris have been working very hard the past few months on many different policies including early outreach, international students, system design, cost inflation, and aboriginal students.

Next year we’ll be sure to include in our application, “individuals who moonlight in the adult film industry – preferred but not mandatory.”

To be fair to the provincial government, we did receive a grant from Youth Employment Services who came to our offices to meet the staff and view the work environment before granting us any money, which is something that their federal cousins may want to consider themselves to avoid future embarrassment.
